ScaleWings to Exhibit at SUN ‘n FUN
New 33% Larger Prop Revealed

EGGENFELDEN, GERMANY (7 April 2026) – ScaleWings, makers of the popular SW-51, 72% scale replica of the iconic P-51 Mustang, is exhibiting at SUN ‘n FUN again for 2026 with a major product enhancement.

“With interest in the Mustang exceeding all expectations globally, ScaleWings will be proudly exhibiting the SW-51 with a new, much larger prop,” stated ScaleWings CEO, Christian von Kessel.

Since its first flight in 2014, the SW-51 has continuously evolved. Most recently, a 33% larger MTV-22 prop was announced in December 2025, giving the Mustang an even more authentic ramp appeal and stronger climb performance. A Mustang with the new large prop will be on display at LD-11.

“Making certain the SW-51 is the most authentic tribute to the original P-51 is something we take very seriously,” added von Kessel. There are more than 100,000 details from the North American P-51 that have been painstakingly recreated in the all-composite aircraft. While the airframe is a 72% scale, the empty weight is only 16% of the original warbird. The lightweight composite aircraft, powered by the venerable Rotax 916iS, gives the SW-51 a power-to-weight ratio similar to that of the 1940s-era warbird. With a redesigned wing to improve low-speed maneuverability, turbocharged powerplant, and an airframe rated for +6/-4 Gs, the SW-51 takes aerobatic maneuvers in stride, making it an instant crowd-pleaser at fly-ins.
