SUN 'n FUN Food Vendors

As we draw closer to show time, we would like to let you know of a few changes for 2023.  SUN ‘n FUN is the second largest airshow in the United States with an average of 200,000 people in attendance over the course of the week.  What does that mean for you?  Food sales!  In our efforts to provide an excellent airshow experience, SUN ‘n FUN recognizes the need for food allergen labeling.  Many visitors opt to bring their food instead of purchasing it on site because they are unsure of what they can safely consume.  With 1 out of every 10 people having a food allergy or intolerance, we are looking at increasing your sales and the safety of our patrons by approximately 20,000 people!  This is a win-win situation.  By labeling known allergens, you are giving your business more opportunities for food sales while SUN ‘n FUN is giving its patrons a safe dining experience.  This year we are requesting that all food served onsite have clear allergen labeling.

In accordance with the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 (the Act), vendors must clearly identify the food source names of any ingredients that are one of the major food allergens or contain any protein derived from a major food allergen. What food allergens are we asking you to identify?  The foods listed below account for 90 percent of food allergic reactions and are the food sources from which many other ingredients are derived. SUN ‘n FUN would like the following allergens identified on the food products they will be serving.  Again, this will help boost sales while designating safe food options for patrons.  All vendors will need to clearly identify all known allergens.  These labels can be on the main signage or displayed on laminated sheets clearly posted and accessible to clients.

We recognize many vendors will prepare and serve both allergen and non-allergen containing food in a shared space.  Your due diligence in minimizing the risk of cross-contamination is greatly appreciated.  Please let me know if you have any questions or need further assistance.

Please designate which foods contain the following allergens and label them accordingly:

  1. Milk
  2. Eggs
  3. Fish (e.g. salmon, tuna, halibut)
  4. Crustacean shellfish (e.g. lobster, prawns, shrimp, crab)
  5. Tree nuts (e.g. walnuts, almonds, cashews, brazil nuts)
  6. Peanuts
  7. Gluten (e.g. wheat, rye, barley, malt, spelt)
  8. Soybeans
